Mission

Michael A. Sullivan, DDS, is a man of many interests, talents and skills. His love for dentistry began at an early age as he watched his father, David M. Sullivan, DDS, MS, FACD, share his passion for the profession. Dr. Sullivan’s passion for and dedication to organized dentistry later grew through his relationship with his wife's grandfather, Jack W. Gottschalk, DDS, recipient of the prestigious Callahan Award from the Ohio Dental Association.

Dr. Sullivan obtained his undergraduate training in biochemistry from the College of Charleston in South Carolina while supplementing his education with courses at the National University of Ireland at Galway and Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and completed extracurricular externships during his training at the University of Cincinnati, and at Louisiana State University of Shreveport.

Dr. Michael Sullivan's dedication to his profession and undying commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset to the field of dental medicine. Dr. Sullivan is a clinical lecturer, teaching other doctors several times each year. He is also an author of the textbook, The Illustrated Handbook of Clinical Dentistry, published by Lexi-Comp, and available on Amazon.com . Dr. Sullivan's publications are used in dental schools and professional offices world-wide.

Many things set Dr. Sullivan’s practice apart from others, including his ability to work with very sensitive patients, and those fearful of dental procedures. He is one of very few dentists in Northern Michigan trained and licensed to administer anesthesia at the IV Conscious Sedation level. This allows Dr. Sullivan to pick the best combination of drugs and medications to make your visit comfortable and painless, and often allows you to sleep through your entire procedure.

Dr. Sullivan’s ongoing dedication to education is evident through his continued pursuit of advances in dental medicine and oral health. His personal commitment to continuing education far exceeds the requirements set by the state. He is an active member of The Prestigious Seattle Study Club World Symposiums, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Dental Association, The Michigan Dental Association, The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, The American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition, He is on staff at Charlevoix Area Hospital, a member of Rotary International, and a proud leader throughout the greater Charlevoix community.

Outside the world of dentistry, Dr. Sullivan enjoys spending time with his wife Carol, daughter Ellie, and son Jack, hiking, biking, skiing, golfing, and traveling.
